What is Chi Nei Tsang?
Chi Nei Tsang is an ancient Taoist abdominal healing practice focused on the internal organs, digestive system, breath, and energetic core of the body.
Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Taoist philosophy, Chi Nei Tsang recognizes that the body stores our lived experiences physically as well as emotionally. Stress, grief, tension, trauma, survival patterns, and emotional holding often accumulate within the abdomen over time — affecting not only digestion, but the nervous system, breath, posture, energy levels, and our ability to fully relax.
Many people live under tension for so long that they no longer remember what it feels like when the body truly lets go.
Why the Abdomen?
In Taoist tradition, the abdomen is considered one of the body’s most important energetic centers — the seat of vitality, intuition, emotional processing, creativity, and life force.
We digest not only food, but also experiences, emotions, and daily stressors.
Because the abdomen is such a vulnerable and emotionally sensitive area, many people unconsciously guard or disconnect from it. Over time, this can contribute to digestive discomfort, shallow breathing, nervous system dysregulation, fatigue, emotional heaviness, and chronic holding patterns within the body.
Though centered in the abdomen, Chi Nei Tsang often influences the body as a whole. The organs, fascia, breath, nervous system, circulation, posture, and emotional body are deeply interconnected.
This work is not about forcefully fixing the body.
It is about creating the conditions for the body to soften, regulate, and reconnect with itself.
Chi Nei Tsang & Gut Health
Healthy digestion relies on peristalsis — the wave-like muscular contractions that move food through the digestive tract.
This process is deeply connected to the nervous system, which means chronic stress, tension, and emotional overwhelm can disrupt digestion and contribute to bloating, constipation, abdominal tightness, sluggish digestion, inflammation, and discomfort.
Chi Nei Tsang works with the abdomen, fascia, organs, breath, and nervous system to help release tension patterns, improve circulation, support organ function, and restore healthier digestive flow.
Chi Nei Tsang is for those seeking support with digestive health, nervous system regulation, emotional release, and deeper reconnection with the body.
This work may support:

The Organs & Emotional Holding
In Taoist medicine, the organs are understood to carry emotional and energetic qualities.
Fear may settle into the kidneys. Anger into the liver. Grief into the lungs.
When tension accumulates within the belly, these emotions can begin to feel “stuck,” affecting both physical and emotional wellbeing.
Chi Nei Tsang approaches the body with the understanding that healing does not happen through force, but through listening.
The intention is not to push the body, but to create enough safety, slowness, and presence for the body to begin softening on its own.
What to Expect
Sessions with me are intentionally slow. Slower than you might expect.
I strive to work with the body rather than against it — trusting that given enough time and safety, the body finds its own way toward ease.
Sessions are fully clothed and centered around gentle yet deeply focused abdomen-centered bodywork. While touch may also include the head, neck, shoulders, hands, and feet, much of the session is focused on the abdomen and energetic core.
Many people describe feeling calmer, clearer, more grounded, and more at home within themselves after a session.
The Body Holds it All
And over time it can become a weight we don’t even realize we are carrying.
